I Do Beseech Thee

In times of weakness, bitter pain
When life feels like a heinous curse
It seems my source of greatest gain
Is to blame the world, and make it worse.

“It's not my fault that I feel that way!
It's his, or hers, or parent's words.
The situation I'm in today.
Cold people led through life in herds.”

I labor under dank delusion.
Dichotomy on the endless earth
And this has altered my conclusions
This has buried faith and mirth.

So God, I ask you now, today
To always help along my way,
To keep my mind on heaven's say,
To keep the breach of faith at bay.

Dear God, on this dark day, I pray
For future carved by my own hand.
That I should walk from Hades' grey
Into the joy of Heaven's land.

I pray that when the torture breaks
That I will know what's right and wrong.
That when I finally forsake
This life, I'll not just join the throng.

My God, I now beseech you, please!
To guide my acts to never hurt.
That I may one day pay the fees
That I have gathered on this earth.

And finally, my God, I ask,
That I may have some help, for this
That though this has to be my task,
It should only bring me bliss.

As dawn does break upon my life
My life must mend, a somber blue,
But for the mending, life is rife
With strife and love! both Heaven's glue.

My prayer is quite complex, but plain.
That pain will be for, for me, my clay
That stays me. God's way, my reigns
In Jesus' Holy Name, I pray!
